Porsche, the makers of some of the best luxury cars in the business, have recently launched the Spyder 918, a hybrid sports car that is all about cutting edge technology meeting sleek design and a power packed performance befitting a super sports automobile.

The favorable reaction to the concept car at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show has prompted Porsche to go ahead with making this dream a reality. The car which will be launched sometime in 2014 is visually astonishing even as it is high performance oriented, thanks to the V8 engines with a horsepower of 500 plus and two 218 horsepower electric motors to assist this power monster. Surprisingly this luxury super sports car is expected to turn out a fuel consumption average of 3.0L/100km with fuel emissions down to the minimum, which is a big advantage for a super sports car.

Its ability to go from 0 to 60 in 3.1 seconds and reach top speeds of 199 mph on fuel and 96 mph on electric power solely makes this a performance oriented car with a Porsche punch.

This car is reminiscent of the Porsche Carrera GT super sports automobile, the renowned 917 and the RS Spyder cars by way of design but has its own distinct identity making it stand out among its peers.

The exclusivity of the car can be gauged from the fact that there will be only 918 cars manufactured at the Stuttgart – Zuffenhausen Porsche manufacturing unit. The availability of this super sports automobile will be open only to the select few underlining the posh style and luxury quotient of the Spyder 918.
