San Francisco’s Benu

A great new luxury restaurant to see in the San Francisco area is the Benu restaurant. This is a place that features a unique series of progressive American foods.

Benu is a restaurant that was created by James Beard Foundation Award winner Corey Lee. Lee, who is also a former French Laundry chef de cuisine, has created this as his first solo establishment. The restaurant’s name comes from the Egyptian word for rebirth and a new beginning.

Lee also created this restaurant with a unique design. This design was created by the designer of New York’s Sony Sushi Room, Richard Bloch. This design is clear and features a series of natural tones that will add to the appeal of the restaurant. The inside courtyard features a great series of decorations including Sanga Raku maple trees alongside Virginia Creeper vines. A brilliant Couristan carpet from Thailand that is about a thousand square feet in size is also featured here.

Each table features a brilliant series of ceramics. Thirty-two pieces of porcelain is featured on each table with all of these materials made by Kwang Ju Yo.

A big part of this luxury restaurant is that it features a unique series of foods. The place refers to its foods as a progressive American food. This includes a series of a la carte foods alongside a number of tasting foods and desserts for people to enjoy.

The menu at Benu often changes. These include such things as duck with artichoke and coriander, beef cheeks with chestnut and daikon, lobster boudin and eggplant soup with a semi-baked tomato. The desserts that can be featured here include such options as Andante Dairy cheese, soft chocolate ganache with banana ice cream and blackberries with douglas fir meringue and natural cream.

This is a restaurant that truly works with Corey Lee’s standards in mind. Lee has worked to create a number of different three-star Michelin restaurants and has brought his experience to this brand new one.

Benu is located in San Francisco in the SOMA district. It is specifically on 22 Hawthorne and is located right near the Moscone Center and the Jewish Art Museum. Reservations are being accepted but the popularity of this restaurant has become so great that it may take a while for anyone to work with a good advance notice for getting into this restaurant for a meal.
