The Roman Coliseum was originally known as the Flavian Amphitheatre and was half way built in AD 72 by an emperor named Vespasian. It was eventually finished by his son Titus in AD 80 with some improvements by Domitian. The Coliseum is located in Rome and it is unbelievable huge it stretches 188m long and 156 wide. When planning a trip with your family or maybe just yourself, you will see how the romans entertained themselves. This Roman coliseum had many categories of gladiators ready to fight. Some gladiators were likely to men but there were a couple of women who would fight. These fighters were prisoners from war or criminals and slaves. The combats was seen by a little bit of everyone the rich, the poor and sometimes the emperor. A fighter would battle till there opponent was dead. Also there would be a race for life held there as well. This coliseum is also a fine piece of work. Its art is really breathtaking. It has a very interesting Patten. This coliseum also has most of the weapons some romans used to fight with still in display cases inside the museum of the coliseum. This beautiful Coliseum does not stand be itself on the outside is the Arch of Constantine this a large monument created in AD 315 to resemble the victory of Constantine over Maxentius at Pons Milvius. This is an extraordinary place to go if you want to know the history of Rome. It is an adventure that you’ll never forget. There are interesting facts everywhere you look and you will find it most fascinating. Not only is this very fun but very educating for you and your family.
