LushWheels: Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport

At this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Bugatti unveiled its latest Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, which remained true to the classic form yet had plenty of subtle updates.

“Only the eagle-eyed automotive anorak would have immediately spotted the aggressive new LED front headlights, the 12-spoke horseshoe-inspired diamond-cut rims or the dynamic quilting in the interior,” writes Chris Hrabalek in Classic Driver.

The Grand Sport’s body is made of “a carbon fibre monocoque suspended from an aluminium frame in the front and a carbon fibre/stainless steel frame in the rear.”

The car goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, aligning it on par with Formula 1 racecars. If 100 km/h is just too slow, well in 7.3 seconds the Grand Sport can get you a further 200 km/h. “No other convertible ever reached such performance values,” Bugatti boasted of itself.

“At higher velocities, the handling mode is engaged, pulling the vehicle closer to the road surface and deploying the rear spoiler at 15 degrees. Driven with an open roof, the super sports car automatically adjusts this angle to 20 degrees in order to maintain the downforce while preserving the aerodynamic balance.”

The Grand Sport’s top velocity is 400 km/h.
