LushStays: Lute Suites in Amsterdam

Posted in Getaways & Vacations on November 13, 2008

The Lute Suites is an avant-garde concept in hospitality, which is the brainchild of adventurous chef Peter Lute and famed industrial designer Marcel Wanders. A row of detached chalets along the Amstel River in Amsterdam were converted into the seven suites with a view to expanding to several other locations throughout the city.

Each suite has its own living room, bedroom and bathroom, all uniquely finished with appointments from know design houses like Boffi, Bisazza and Moooi, all of which Wanders has, at one time, collaborated with. No two suites are furnished the same. The design is both modern, with playful colors inserted through centerpieces, and traditional, with a collection of antique furnishing spread throughout the suites.

The Lute has two boardrooms that come complete with wireless Internet, DVD players and LCD screens; their designs are conducive for brainstorming sessions or working lunches.

The restaurant within the premises is Peter Lute’s playground. It’s comprised of five houses that used to be a gunpowder mill. Lute’s menu is divided into Vintage Lute, which is a collection of their best dishes, and Lute Premiere, where their new recipes are showcased. Both menus stay true to Lute’s philosophy of creating “light and accessible” dishes. Diners can choose to have their meal in the indoor lounge area, the glass house or the terrace.

At Lute, the possibilities and the choices seem endless leaving guests with an experience that is out of the ordinary and unparalleled.
