LushEats: NYC’s Best Thanksgiving Dinners To-Go
Not everyone has the culinary talent of Joël Robuchon or Ferran Adrià, but anybody can prepare a sumptuous Thanksgiving spread at home for some family and friends without much difficulty. If you live in New York City where this holiday is taken seriously (think Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade), it’s as easy as visiting your neighborhood deli or just ordering online. Here are our three favorite caterers/deli shops and their turkey and fixins’ offerings.
New York institution Zabar’s lets you pick from their wide range of appetizers, main courses and side dishes. We picked the tried and tested Premium Roast Turkey with Cranberry Wild Rice Stuffing and added some Brussel Sprouts, Mashed Yams and Pumpkin Cheesecake for dessert.
The bill for this complete meal for 12 people? US$ 296.00. Delivery charge is US$ 25 but if you wait until Thanksgiving Day to have your dinner delivered, that will cost you an additional US$ 10.
Upscale gourmet store Dean and Deluca’s large Complete Feast, good for 10-12, includes a Heritage Turkey with Porcini Stuffing. Delectable. The usual vegetable side dishes also come with this meal. While the Feast already has some biscuits for dessert, we think we’ll be left wanting for more. Nothing like some chocolate to satisfy that sweet craving. D&D’s Chocolate Mille Crepes sounds like the perfect meal ender.
Our total for this Feast is US$ 605, delivery included.
Spoon Catering’s Thanksgiving menu gives new life to our old holiday favorites. The roasted turkey is seasoned with garlic, rosemary and citrus. Wild mushroom, shallots, dried apricots and figs make up the stuffing. The traditional vegetable dishes get a new spin with Wild Rice Salad with Butternut Squash, Corn, Leek & Fresh Herbs and Crisp Haricot Vert and Asparagus with Parsley & Pomegrenate Dressing. The desserts, interestingly, are traditional pecan pie, apple pie and bread pudding.
The price for this novel holiday meal for 12? US$ 720. Delivery charge is US$ 75.
Order early, enjoy the holidays and give thanks for the fact that you didn’t slave away a whole day or two preparing your perfect Thanksgiving dinner.

It would be roughly $26.75 a person if you ordered from Zabar’s – that’s actually reasonable!
