LushBling: David Webb Jewelry

Posted in Jewellery & Accessories on November 11, 2008

An exclusive range of 60th anniversary David Webb jewelry is only available at the designer’s Madison Avenue boutique in New York. Pieces feature colourful animal motif bangles and brooches such as the above rock crystal lion bangle. Other pieces which may be found have turtles, frogs and fish. The collection reflects Webb’s own past designs and fascinations with animal motifs, as well as his playfulness with color.

The modern twist, however, is primarily to do with the issue of wearability. Jewelry just isn’t worth having if it isn’t wearable, and the modern David Webb collections have been designed for the fun and practical consumer in mind. (Fun, practical and luxurious, of course.)

All the pieces are individually crafted at the New York workshop above the boutique. Other David Webb collections include a ‘For Him’ range and ‘Objects D’Art.’

The jewelry starts at $3,000 and go as high as $700,000.

(David Webb is probably one of the original jewelry designers to have ‘knock-off’ imitations created from its collections – a genuine form of flattery, one may choose to believe.)

  • “Fun, practical and luxurious” – not sure how practical and luxurious could describe the same thing, especially when it could cost 700,000!
