never knew folding chairs could be so lush. Hermes has released a crocodile skinned version of their classic Pippa folding chair. The chair is a limited edition furniture piece which is selling for $24,000.
It’s luxurious not only for the obvious matte black crocodile skin, yet also its ebony finish maple plus nickel plated hardware. A real ‘bad ass’ compared to the original Pippa in pear wood and leather, designed by architect Rena Dumas 20 years ago.
Dumas’s inspiration for the original Pippa chair was the 1940s and 50s leather furniture designs of Jean Michel Frank and Paul Dupre-Lafont for Hermes. Dumas’s designs were true to Hermes’ signature look of sleep, contemporary forms with Hermes’ leather and stitching.
Dumas is wife of Hermes President Jean-Louis Dumas-Hermes, and also also designed silver accessories and the interiors of many Hermes boutiques.
At $24,000 I’m not sure if it’s the kind of folding chair you’d simply take out with you on a road trip – unless, maybe, if you were Paris Hilton?
