Come 29th November 2010, renowned singer Madonna will be opening her very own fitness club called Hard Candy Fitness Club. This fitness centre is set to open globally with the first one in the beautiful city of Mexico. The global locations are expected to be in Russia, other parts of Europe and even Asia.
Hard Candy Fitness Club is a joint collaboration between Madonna, her manager Guy Oseary as well as New Evolution Ventures which is set to raise the bars of fitness centres around the world. The first Hard Candy Fitness Club due to open in Mexico City is a lavishly designed club with a sprawling floor space of about 30,000 square foot. This first club will occupy this large space in the exclusive Bosques de las Lomas area. It is said that Madonna is due to attend the official opening of the first club.
It is a known fact that Madonna has been a fitness fanatic for much of her life and devoted a lot of time to fitness and general well-being. Owing to this, she has also worked out regularly in many gyms throughout the world during the course of her career. She is therefore regarded as being the right person to advocate her visions on how one should exercise, the ideal exercise methods, fitness environment and so on.
The idea to open Hard Candy Fitness Club first began when Madonna had a discussion with Mark Mastrov, 24 Hour Fitness’ innovator and her manager Oseary sometime in 2008. Having experience in building almost more than 400 fitness clubs in about 16 countries, he proved to be the right person to support Madonna’s vision in opening a fitness club.

The people behind the Hard Candy Fitness Club, Madonna, Mastrov, his partner Jim Rowley, Vice-President of Marketing and Development, Craig Pepin-Donat and Oseary are now in the process of planning the opening of about 10 more fitness clubs in countries like Argentina, Brazil, Russia and other countries in Asia and Europe.
The team is also dabbling with the idea of forging local partnerships on a global scale to combine fitness with entertainment and fashion, thereby rendering a unique workout experience. The gym that is set to open around the world will largely be based on Madonna’s ideas and vision for the ideal exercise.
The team is focused on ensuring that Hard Candy Fitness Clubs are known for its unique combination of entertainment and fitness and providing a top-notch workout experience for their members. The fitness centres will be focused on providing a range of fitness programmes for its members, including one-on-one training, group training and classes like kickboxing to provide a good cardio workout, Latin Moves and even Zumba. Each of the Hard Candy Fitness Centres will also have a bike studio and a climbing wall in its Mind Body Studio.
On this climbing wall, members of the gym will be able to train on barworks, sculpting and even Capoeria. Yoga will also be offered to members. The fitness club will also have a juice bar cum café which will dish out healthy snacks and beverages.
The clubs also have spacious locker rooms which are made out of the best of materials, providing members a sense of being in a sanctuary. Members can also avail the sauna and steam rooms. Members of the club will also be able to use one of the many cardiovascular machines that come equipped with monitors.
Given that Madonna had previously failed in her business ventures which involved fashion and optical wear, it is predicted that she will succeed this time with her fitness club venture. Given the popularity of fitness and workout among people in general, it is expected that her state-of-the-art fitness club will generate revenue with a large number of people signing up to become members. How popular the clubs are in reality can only be seen post-29th November 2010 when the first club officially opens.
