Whoever’s heard of living wallpaper? Not many of us, but for those who’ve seen what it is have left spellbound! The images are real, the colors are gorgeous and you just cannot take your eyes of them. These wallpapers are true pieces of art with days of hard work seeped in it just so that the scenery looks real. The end result is a visually compelling craft, colourful, mesmerising and something that will keep you confused for hours together.
Emma Hack, designer and creator of these living wallpapers sure does know what goes into making art alive. She initially began as a face painter for children as well as a hair and makeup artist. These two careers were enough to give her a decent in-depth insight into the art of body painting. Once she discovered its magic, she began to explore and move beyond her creative boundaries that always and always had a story to narrate.
She draws a lot of inspiration from the well known 1960’s-70’s painter Verushka who painted herself in such a way that she would blend into wall paintings or wallpapers. Her first work of blending into the background body painting was a massive 19 hours, although now she manages to capture the idea within 8-15 hours.
Emma is a proud recipient of the 2001 CIDESCIO World Congress Professional World Body Painting championship and has some brand clients like Paspaley Pearls, Tiffany & Co and even Playstation 2 under her belt. She has definitely created a niche and mark for her work, infact getting your hands on Emma’s work can be painstakingly difficult. You can however get her Wallpaper Collection book that features all her art work right from the time she began for $430, taking it to the collector’s edition ranks.
