A Skull With Your Coffee?

fa34_a_-2

From the designer of the innovative saddle seat comes a new ‘Frankie’ skull table lamp. The skull lamp is 18 carat gold plated (other options of bronze, nickel or sterling silver are also available), and plugs into normal power outlets.

Somehow skulls are just cool. And even the late watchmaker Severin Wunderman had a whole library filled with skulls as decoration. Surely, if he was alive today, he would be wanting one of these designs by F.AKASAKA.

Placing it next to the saddle seat provides an even more modern-cowboy atmosphere. It’s definitely one of those presents for guys – or, even girls – who like to invite guests over to be envious of the ‘cool stuff’ that they own.

What’s impressive about the skull shape of this lamp is that it is so close to the real form, one is enchanted into this mystery of just how F.AKASAKA even made it.

For any fan of Star Wars, Indiana Jones or just really cool things, this is the perfect gift.

Alfa Nero Superyacht

alfa

Named after Roman emperor Nero, this superyacht was designed for the stylish and powerful Lords of the seas.

As a yacht, the Alfa Nero has won awards throughout Europe, US and Asia for its stylish design and superior luxury features. The streamline concept, the black steel color scheme, all evoke a sense of modern sheek and innovative luxury.

The yacht has a 12 by 23 foot infinity pool, which has a transparent water transom and bleached teak decks. Modern chaise lounges and recliners also decorate the deck space. And in what seems like James Bond inspired fashion, the pool is able to transform into a helicopter landing pad.

The interior was lushly designed by Italian designer Alberto Pinto. There is just so much beauty in these interiors that you really need to see the pictures to get it. From the Makassar ebony walls, to the off-white couches, mother-of-pearl and chocolate-dark wood inlays, plus a jet black piano with artist decoration adding that touch of elegant culture.

The Alfa Nero is 269 foot in total length, reaches a max speed of 20 knots and does a comfortable cruising speed of 14 knots; built by Oceano yachts.

Nude Madonna Photograph to sell between $10-15,000 (£7-10,000)

nude-madonna

Already there are about 471 and counting news articles about this one particular auction piece that Christie’s has recently placed in their collection of items for bidding. The photograph is part of a New York auction scheduled for February 12, 2009, which is selling off 150 images from the collection of Leon and Michaela Constantiner – all featuring icons of the early 1990s.

What is most unique about this particular photo of Madonna is that it was taken before her rise to fame, when she was still working as a dancer, barely making ends meet. Madonna merely responded to an ad in a newspaper by photographer Lee Friedlander, who was working on a series of nudes.

The photograph completely strips Madonna of the persona she latered transformed into, as the focal point is Lee Friedlander’s artistic expression concerning the female body. However, it is undeniably recognisable as the Madonna we know in the picture, and since her biography is now so widely understood to the world, this photograph is undeniably one of the most intriguing snapshops of the star.

Reportedly, Madonna was paid $25 (£15) for that one photoshoot. A distinctive contrast to her most recent work, modeling for Louis Vuitton and being paid… well, surely a lot.

AirJax Titanium2 by Atomic Floyd

airjax_03

It’s just one of those ‘guy things’ that girls secretly want to be able to sport as well, yet wouldn’t want to out-masculinise their boyfriends over. Being declared as a “new state of sound,” Atomic Floyd is actually the lovechild of executives from Nike, Adidas and Philips, who decided that the headphones market was totally pluggable.

The AirJax Titanium2 comes with 4-way adjustable titanium ear hook, which promises “superior fit, comfort, and durability.” The elastic properties allow it to flex yet still retain its shape. The sound quality is supposed to be phenomenal, and the 3.5mm audio jack is coated in 24 carat gold.

The set comes in a triple-layered, double-stitched protective leather pouch, which also has an airplane adapter so you don’t have to resort to those awful in-flight headphones in the sky. Plus a considerate anti-tangle fabric cable is also included, which makes it perfect for pretty much anyone.

The headphones are £120 (approx $178 USD).

The Magic Mushroom House, Inspired by a Nautilus Shell

aspen-house

Built in 1973, this ‘magic mushroom’ house was named after the popular hallucinogens of the time, and was designed by architect Andrew Ulrych, who was actually inspired by a nautilus shell. Though with the brown exterior and snow-frosted exterior, it’s no wonder how the name ‘magic mushroom’ was conceived.

Last week, we featured Alan B. Schwartz’s home that was given a modern makeover from the 70s era to today’s trendy tastes. Yet this house has remained unique and ‘timeless’ in its essence precisely because it has stayed true to its 70s vibe.

Filled with spider plants, moss rock and rustic wood, the house – just like Alan B. Schwartz’s 70s apartment – has a sunken living room, which the owners, Peter and Patty Findlay, affectionately refer to as the “love pit.”

Situated in Aspen, Colorado, the magic mushroom house has all the features of a contemporary luxury house, including a gym. The house totals 6,000 square foot in area, and constitutes 12 levels, all coiled around from itself.
