LushWheels: Hermès does a Smart Car

It’s really amazing how many colors it comes in, as well as how much you can actually fit in this tiny little car. Very smart indeed. The leather interiors are all Hermès leather and comes in ten colors in total: from golds, greens, pinks, blues to the Hermès signature orange.

The unveiling marked Smart Car’s 10-year anniversary. Seems like just yesterday when I got angry at a Smart Car taking up a perfectly normal-sized parking space which appeared to be ‘empty’ before I arrived closer. (In fact it probably was yesterday… grrr…) But I can’t stay mad at them forever. Smart cars really are too cute! Especially in so many hot colors.

Hermès and anything will definitely add not only great publicity but also an increase in sales – let’s hope. For nobody dares to predict anything anymore in these volatile financial times… one thing’s for sure, last time Hermès collaborated with a car marker it retailed at $2.3 million. Smart car in this case is valued at a ‘bargain’ of $48,564

LushEats: NYC's Best Thanksgiving Dinners To-Go

Not everyone has the culinary talent of Joël Robuchon or Ferran Adrià, but anybody can prepare a sumptuous Thanksgiving spread at home for some family and friends without much difficulty. If you live in New York City where this holiday is taken seriously (think Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade), it’s as easy as visiting your neighborhood deli or just ordering online. Here are our three favorite caterers/deli shops and their turkey and fixins’ offerings.

New York institution Zabar’s lets you pick from their wide range of appetizers, main courses and side dishes. We picked the tried and tested Premium Roast Turkey with Cranberry Wild Rice Stuffing and added some Brussel Sprouts, Mashed Yams and Pumpkin Cheesecake for dessert.

The bill for this complete meal for 12 people? US$ 296.00. Delivery charge is US$ 25 but if you wait until Thanksgiving Day to have your dinner delivered, that will cost you an additional US$ 10.

Upscale gourmet store Dean and Deluca’s large Complete Feast, good for 10-12, includes a Heritage Turkey with Porcini Stuffing. Delectable. The usual vegetable side dishes also come with this meal. While the Feast already has some biscuits for dessert, we think we’ll be left wanting for more. Nothing like some chocolate to satisfy that sweet craving. D&D’s Chocolate Mille Crepes sounds like the perfect meal ender.

Our total for this Feast is US$ 605, delivery included.

Spoon Catering’s Thanksgiving menu gives new life to our old holiday favorites. The roasted turkey is seasoned with garlic, rosemary and citrus. Wild mushroom, shallots, dried apricots and figs make up the stuffing. The traditional vegetable dishes get a new spin with Wild Rice Salad with Butternut Squash, Corn, Leek & Fresh Herbs and Crisp Haricot Vert and Asparagus with Parsley & Pomegrenate Dressing. The desserts, interestingly, are traditional pecan pie, apple pie and bread pudding.

The price for this novel holiday meal for 12? US$ 720. Delivery charge is US$ 75.

Order early, enjoy the holidays and give thanks for the fact that you didn’t slave away a whole day or two preparing your perfect Thanksgiving dinner.

LushToys: Opus Football Table

For those looking for the ultimate gaming experience, look no further. Eleven Forty Company makes the poshest, one-of-a-kind toy for the self-indulgent child in you. Aptly called the Opus, this extraordinary football table employs cutting-edge computer-aided design technology in its creation, giving it curvy lines and revolutionary form. Handcrafted in glass, stainless steel and handsome woods like oak, maple and mahogany, it certainly is a masterpiece. A work of art that takes no less than 400 hours to make.

What makes this football table one-of-a-kind? Eleven Forty developed a technology that allows them to micro-cast 3D heads from photographs. This means you can choose who gets to play for your dream football team. You can have your family and friends’ faces on your players. Or you can have the Tennessee Titans on them since they seem to be having a good season so far.

The company created a limited-edition Good vs. Evil Opus football table, which is exclusively available at 20ltd. Leading the Good line-up are Claus (as in Santa), Assisi (as in St. Francis) and Poppins (as in Mary). Hitler, Lucifer and Macbeth (as in Lady) head the villainous and the wicked. This certainly would make one excellent conversation piece.

Cost: £ 17,000 (US$ 26,000).

LushStays: Lute Suites in Amsterdam

The Lute Suites is an avant-garde concept in hospitality, which is the brainchild of adventurous chef Peter Lute and famed industrial designer Marcel Wanders. A row of detached chalets along the Amstel River in Amsterdam were converted into the seven suites with a view to expanding to several other locations throughout the city.

Each suite has its own living room, bedroom and bathroom, all uniquely finished with appointments from know design houses like Boffi, Bisazza and Moooi, all of which Wanders has, at one time, collaborated with. No two suites are furnished the same. The design is both modern, with playful colors inserted through centerpieces, and traditional, with a collection of antique furnishing spread throughout the suites.

The Lute has two boardrooms that come complete with wireless Internet, DVD players and LCD screens; their designs are conducive for brainstorming sessions or working lunches.

The restaurant within the premises is Peter Lute’s playground. It’s comprised of five houses that used to be a gunpowder mill. Lute’s menu is divided into Vintage Lute, which is a collection of their best dishes, and Lute Premiere, where their new recipes are showcased. Both menus stay true to Lute’s philosophy of creating “light and accessible” dishes. Diners can choose to have their meal in the indoor lounge area, the glass house or the terrace.

At Lute, the possibilities and the choices seem endless leaving guests with an experience that is out of the ordinary and unparalleled.
