Tiffany & Co designed a range of limited edition diamond-decorated phones for the Japan region with price tags of 13 million yen (around £83,000 or $123,000 USD). The phones had 537 diamonds on each and were worth 18.34-carats. Platinum panel underneath ensured that not one detail was lost in its luxurious ingenuity.
The phones sold out in the first three days of going on sale – though only ten editions were made.
The 823SH Tiffany phone was a collaboration between Tiffany & Co and Sharp, and sold through Japanese mobile phone company Softbank.
“The launch was planned before the financial crisis took hold. We did not know or expect that there would by such a crisis so of course we are very pleased that they have all sold,” said a Softbank spokesman.
Japan is home to the world’s largest mobile phone market, with more than 50 million phones sold each year in the country.
Personally, as a girl, I definitely have to say that this Tiffany model beats the Prada phone in terms of aesthetic appeal, hands down. Diamonds really are a girl’s best friend.
When you mix Africa and Japan, you get Wafrica. A collaboration between various Japanese artists and French designer Serge Mouangue.
There is actually very little information on materials or even pricing. Essentially it is being presented as a work of art, a celebration of cultures. Yet the kimonos are for sale as well. I really wasn’t sure if this post should have gone into our sister blog, Edictive.com other if it wasn’t for the fact that kimonos cost thousands of dollars for good quality ones.
“Wafrica search for ways to express a new aesthetic by the transformation of timeless iconic symbols. In response to the argument that globalization may rob us of our cultural identity, a conversation between two ancient, strong and sophisticated identities: Japan and Africa. The conversation is about the beauty of weaving strands of our stories together.”
Wafrica kimonos are both works of art and wearable clothing. The patterns on the kimonos are very different to traditional Japanese kimono patterns, and reflect elements of African culture.
Every Lush traveler needs to be at the airport in style – and have their most important outfits protected and yet stylishly protected. The Jendarling garment bags evoke what designer Jennifer Bennet describes as “60’s jet set chic.” They come in 6 different colors and are lined with silk.
The garment bags are made from organic cotton, hemp and leather (for the zipper.)
When I saw these prints I immediately thought, Of course, these are for LushBling. The plain colored ones are extremely classy as well. The bags are highly customizable and there are in fact also Vegan options – if you don’t want a leather zipper.
The bags are made for closet storage as well as travel. They can store up to five items in each bag, with room for accessories at the bottom, as well as a small internal pocket for jewelry.
“Jendarling creates garment bags that keep your idolized threads wrinkle free.”
Saks Fifth Avenue has a new collection of holiday season exclusively designed Snowflake brooch jewelry. 11 brands including Graff, Gurhan and Marco Bicego were invited to created one-of-a-kind brooches inspired by the snowflake illustrations of artist Marian Bantjes.
Marian Bantjes worked on the Want It campaign for Saks Fifth Avenue which featured her lettering and beautiful swirl motif on the window displays, store catalogs and shopping bags.
For more inspiration (and things to buy), Marian Bantjes’ web site is filled with her latest art projects and other collaborations. The Canadian-born designer has a distinctively whimsical feel to her work, and is internationally recognised as a world-class visual designer.
Bantjes has been called “one of the most innovative typographers working today” by Stefan Sagmeister, music album designer to such bands as Aerosmith and the Rolling Stones.
The Saks Fifth Avenue Snowflakes will each feature gemstones and be travelling through the chain’s network of stores this month. Prices range from $12,500 (Roberto Coin red enamel snowflake) to $77,200 (Chopard’s gold and diamond pendant).
It’s really amazing how many colors it comes in, as well as how much you can actually fit in this tiny little car. Very smart indeed. The leather interiors are all Hermès leather and comes in ten colors in total: from golds, greens, pinks, blues to the Hermès signature orange.
The unveiling marked Smart Car’s 10-year anniversary. Seems like just yesterday when I got angry at a Smart Car taking up a perfectly normal-sized parking space which appeared to be ‘empty’ before I arrived closer. (In fact it probably was yesterday… grrr…) But I can’t stay mad at them forever. Smart cars really are too cute! Especially in so many hot colors.
Hermès and anything will definitely add not only great publicity but also an increase in sales – let’s hope. For nobody dares to predict anything anymore in these volatile financial times… one thing’s for sure, last time Hermès collaborated with a car marker it retailed at $2.3 million. Smart car in this case is valued at a ‘bargain’ of $48,564.
