Maestro Dobel Diamond Tequila

Posted in Wines & Spirits on September 2, 2008

A unique tequila blended from Resposado, Anejo and Extra Anejo made from perfectly grown and handpicked Agave. Distilled aged and brought to you the best possible quality hand labeled with the exact date, bottle and the ranch. Maestro Dobel wants you to enjoy this perhaps the finest tequila in the world.

The practice of aging tequila began because scotch, bourbon, and whiskey exceeded in popularity over tequila in Mexico and manufacturers had to find a way to compete in the market. Hence they devised the Reposado and Anejo tradition.

Reposado (“rested”) – aged a minimum of two months, but less than a year in oak barrels.
Añejo (“aged” or “vintage”) – aged a minimum of one year, but less than 3 years in oak barrels.
Extra añejo (“extra aged” or “ultra aged”) – aged a minimum of three years in oak barrels.

By the way, In United States, National Tequila Day is July 24

We are told or perhaps we are sold on the clarity of this tequila, the crispiness of herbal and citric aromas. The complexity and the craftsmanship of the bottle. Sounds delicious but I really do wonder how much of this is really marketing. There is no set precedence after all for this drink. There is no following, or earned respect. Just like a gifted yet unknown artist may not be with all the hype, at least not just yet.
