Collectors Go Online

Posted in Sartorial Style on September 30, 2011

Collections

If you’re a serious traditional collector of any type, then names like Public Storage may resonate for you.  But, if you’re a serious online collector, most likely you’ve heard of Tumblrs or Pinterest.  If you haven’t, you’re missing out on an opportunity to modernize and streamline your collection – no matter what you actually collect.

Many of us collect something – buttons, Barbie dolls, vintage watches, snow globes, you name it.  For those with large collections, ensuring space for your doodads may be a particularly tough challenge – either for you personally, or for those with whom you share living space.  Enter online blog sites, the latest solution to storage woes for serious collectors of everything from baseball cards to baseball jerseys.

Over the last few years, blogging websites have advanced to the degree that online cataloging is now an increasingly common method of building one’s collection.  Using various details like photos, sound clips and video files, interested blog enthusiasts and website visitors can enjoy a growing range of sites on almost any topic you can imagine.  For example, women who have a particular fetish for red shoes may find a website solely (no pun intended) featuring pictures, trivia, and other information related to nothing but a sincere love of – what else? – red shoes.

The obvious benefit of online collecting is that it actually doesn’t require a blogger to purchase anything, thus saving money; and it doesn’t require physical space, much to the delight of many family members and roommates.  Consider this type of collecting phenomenon a variation on a theme: individuals have been avid collectors of all kinds of items, perhaps for centuries.  In addition to the benefits already noted, online collecting also creates a way to connect individuals with similar interests worldwide.

Any collector will tell you that a big part of collecting is all about celebrating yesteryears, moments in time that hold meaning for them. Through online collecting, sharing the gift of nostalgia can reach wider and farther than imaginable.

Kate’s dress and accessories

Posted in Jewellery & AccessoriesSartorial Style on May 4, 2011

Kates wedding Gown The Royal wedding was truly fairy-tale like, and was just as we all expected. There was nothing too flamboyant like a tremendously long wedding dress trail. On the contrary, one look at the celebration, and you knew it was fit for the future king and queen.

Everything about the wedding ceremony was a neat combination of old world Royal charm and new style. However most of us would have liked it to follow the current fashion trends, a little quirky, little princess like and a dash of elegance. Probably they also had to please Prince William’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth. Whatever the reasons, although the dress was rather practical, it looked like a million bucks!

Kate's wedding gown

Kate Middleton’s dress was every fashionistas prime focus. The wedding gown was certainly beautiful which was ivory and made from satin gazar. The lace was perfect, delicate and extremely beautiful; made from flowers cut individually and embellished on French Chantilly lace. The veil was splendid, simple, stunning and fit the princess perfectly well. This was made from silk tulle again in soft ivory and it even had trimmings of hand embroidered flowers.

The entire dress itself was for around £250,000, designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, this dress is sure to change wedding dress trends. We’ve seen enough of off shoulders, shoulderless and strappy wedding gowns. This lace full sleeved wedding gown worn by Kate Middleton was totally different. A lot of the gown’s inspiration, it seemed like, came from Princess Grace’s wedding gown.

The British Royal family has this tradition of passing down or using a piece of heirloom in their weddings. It’s almost like a tradition, and to keep up with this, there as the 1935 Cartier Halo Diamond Tiara. This tiara is part of the Queen’s priceless jewel collection. Among her accessories was the leaf shaped diamond earrings by Robinson Pelham that carried a tag of £9,000 and gifted by her parents.
