With a Christmas gift list that seems to get longer year after year, we’re going to need some help with those special women on our list whom we can’t decide what to get for the holidays. So we sought out our favorite posh retail store, Saks Fifth Avenue, and found these irresistible designer pieces.
Jimmy Choo Saba Patchwork Hobo – $ 3,395; Christian Louboutin Ankle Boots – $ 1,555
The patchwork hobo with metal, enamel and leather ring accents and goldtone hardware is by Jimmy Choo. The exterior is a mix of two snakeskin species while the interior is lined in ultra-rich suede. The Christian Louboutin “Arielle A Talon” platform bootie is done in python and lined in supple leather.
Emilio Pucci Down Jacket – $ 1,420; Prada Puffer Jacket – $ 1,990
This stylish jacket from Emilio Pucci is perfect for those ski trips to Vail or Aspen. It will serve you well when you’re on the slopes and it’s fashionable enough for when you’re doing some retail therapy in town. The nylon puffer jacket by Prada has a nylon belt, a detachable hood and a luxurious fox fur trim.
Ippolita Turquoise Bangle – $ 2,950; Phillip Stein Double Diamond Watch – $ 2,515
The bangle by Ippolita is chic and glamorous in its simplicity. The nine turquoise stones that make up this accessory will add style even to the simplest outfit. This Phillip Stein Diamond Watch merges beauty and well-being with its unique technology that increases the wearer’s resistance to stress. The beauty of this watch lies, however, in the flawless diamonds that pave its dial weighing over 1 carat.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
From January 2009, Givenchy’s exclusive travel retail fragrance Be Givenchy will be available for purchase. The scent is made up of lime, ginger, morelly cherry – as top notes – plus heart of honeysuckle, jasmine and orange flower in the middle, with base scents of cedar, amber and musk.
The result is a very girly, pretty smell that is said to be an “audacious fragrance for the modern-day Lolita.” The ad campaign is very romantic and indeed connotes a Lolita sort of sexuality with the model in a school-girl like outfit of white blouse, black skirt and white socks.
“The overall effect is designed to be assertive, candid and seductive.”
It’s just a bit weird how she is obviously so much larger than the elegant little French-antique style chair she is posing next to. That doesn’t quite connote Lolita then so much as overgrown girl trying to blend in with a small world?
The new male fragrance from Emporio Armani is woody and modern, with top notes of joyful bergamot and spicy Szechuan pepper. Middle notes of revitalising cedar and cacao are nicely supported by base notes of smoky gaiac wood, vetiver and ambroxan. The result is a scent that is alluring, energising and finishes with a longing, calming effect.
The bottle itself is very sleek and designed for the modern man in mind. Gone are the days when men have to be ‘rough’ to be men – they can now be perfectly polished and embrace the simplicity of being inspired by diamonds and the shimmering brilliance of the clear light reflections.
Though in general the shape of the bottle has stayed rather masculine in the sense that it is perfectly rectangular. Very very sleeky.
“Your man will love it as much for its streamlined shape as its fragrance. Emporio Armani Diamonds is a modern-day yet timeless scent. And just like the saying goes, diamonds are forever…”
This is a classic bag that wouldn’t be going out of style any time soon – by which I mean, within the next three seasons. With logo-embossed plaque and thick chain detailing, the bag is sophisticated, simple and yet regal.
For $1495, you can choose between black, white or “pool” colored. It’s definitely got plenty of hidden compartments and pockets for storing all kinds of necessities, and the handles and straps are short enough to be held onto by hand and long enough to tuck under the shoulder. Without any need of adjustments. Perfectly versatile and great for travel adventures in style.
The drawstring as a bit of laid-back sophistication, and the shape is great for adapting to documents or stuffing in some light shawls or cardigans. It’s definitely been designed with a luxury lady-on-the-go in mind.
Michael Kors is one of the most celebrated designers in America and has also become a TV celebrity with his appearances on Bravo TV’s Project Runway as a guest judge every week.
After I discovered the wonderful Tiffany phone (see previous post), I got a whiff of diamond addiction. I needed more ‘frosting’ as Kate Hudson said in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
