Victory Party Bubbly

Posted in Wines & Spirits on November 6, 2008

Since no celebration is complete without champagne, we uncovered these bottles of bubbly befitting a celebration this significant and historic.

Krug produces a champagne made of 100% Chardonnay grapes from a single vineyard called Clos du Mesnil, for which they named this vintage after. The Clos du Mesnil has a very subtle taste of honey, which makes the experience quite extraordinary. Cost: US$ 750 per bottle.

Dom Perignon released a special limited edition of its 1995 Vintage earlier this year in a 3-liter jeroboam size. Only a hundred bottles were made of this edition, which comes in a white gold sheath that’s laser-engraved with the company’s logo. Cost: US$ 17,000 per bottle.

And if you’re in the neighborhood and looking to drop some serious money for a bottle of bubbly for the new president, the Ritz-Carlton in Moscow is offering a vintage 1907 Heidsieck champagne recovered from a shipwreck off the coast of Finland. Apparently, the wine was intended for the Russian Imperial family in 1916 when the ship sank. Cost: US$ 275,000 per bottle.

  • Surely a victory as history altering as the election of Barack Obama deserves a $750.00 bottle of this fantastically photographed champagne. I’ll leave the $17,000 bottle to the big boys. The following article exemplifies what this means to the entire free world.

    Democrats – Set Things Right

    Congratulations President Elect Barack Obama!

Respect for John McCain – True American.

This is a momentous occasion in our country’s history. We’ll all talk of this to our grandchildren. Obama has been charismatic and when Colin Powell endorsed him – he was a shoe in.

John McCain, always respected as a war hero and senator was campaigning under the shadow of eight years of George W. Governor Sarah Palin is a great speaker yet not seasoned enough in foreign affairs – especially for these dangerous times. To anyone who has not listened to McCain’s concession speech, it is a masterpiece of the exhibition of human decency, sincerity and patriotism.

Barack Obama will make errors, he isn’t the new messiah, but with good advisers and the common sense he seems to exude I expect him to steer America on a new and safer path towards betterment of the people with the assistance of the people. If this does not propel acceptance and new friendships or at least congeniality between the races – that an African American has been voted in by ALL races – including those middle-aged white ladies who sometimes clutched their purses in response to seeing a black man walking towards them – then nothing will.

Maybe the next generation of people will be assigned a category of American of African descent or an American of German descent. Although his name may bring to mind the Muslim religion, Barack Obama is a Christian. Perhaps people will begin to realize that in spite of the terrorists of the world – not all Muslims have the mindset of terrorists. President Elect Obama leads the parade towards cohesion of all races and groups of Americans. One flag, one people to present a united face to the rest of the world. After all, he’s about to become the leader of the free world.

God bless him and keep him safe…

  • Can’t say that I agree with all the above and spending $750 on a bottle of anything is OUTRAGEOUS! But I like the champagne glasses.

  • Well I agree with the stuff that perowlifick wrote but I still wouldn’t pay that much for a bottle of anything.
