In the 1970s, Allen B. Schwartz, the now renowned fashion designer with clothes in such luxury retail stores as Saks, was at the height of his game. (And still is, now). Neon lighting and bleachers in one’s living room was the most trendiest feature a home could have, and so of course, Schwartz had.

Now, in 2009, Schwartz has gone for a total modern makeover. Gone are the bleachers and neon lights, in come the sleek, mininialist furniture, a fireplace and some marble updates in the bathroom as well – apparently marble is the new ‘it’ thing.

What attracted Schwartz to his New York apartment in the 70s originally was the fact that it had a sunken living room. “It was so damn sexy,” he said. “I didn’t even care what the bedroom looked like.”

The modern bedroom is significantly more spacious with the installation of a plasma flatscreen hung on the wall.

In fact, the whole apartment looks much more spacious with a minimalist approach, plus glass and marble to add even more modern sophistication.
