This is not the look I would prefer for my pad, but I am sure there will be thousands miffed with the idea of covering everything in their home with whacky bright threads. It wasn’t long ago when the internet was not an everyday and everybody’s thing. The television didn’t eat up out lives and we had a lot of spare time. Women would finish their chores, and crochet while they sat on the porch in their rocking chair. When they finished their crochet, you would get neat looking tops, skirts, even items and covers that were proudly displayed in your home.
Crochet seems to have taken a new turn now. Polish born, Olek who now is a known Brooklyn artist loves her crochet. I can safely say that she’s pretty obsessed with it. Olek has covered every tiny detail in her studio apartment with bright crocheted threads. That includes shelves, toilet seats and almost everything. It does seem like a lot of hard work put in and she does deserve credit for it. If red is your choice along with bright details and bold black letters splattered on crochet covers then this one is for you.
For those interested in catching a glimpse of this yarn creation, you can head down to the Christopher Henry Gallery, that has this apartment on display. The exhibition is called the Knitting is for Pus****. You can catch the exhibition till the 28th of May 2011. The exhibition moves on next year to the Smithsonian where it will be featured in the 40 Under 40 show. If you do like it, you can get it installed in your room, but get ready to write a cheque of $90,000.
